(Christ Ahnsahnghong) The New Name in Revelation 2 Is Jesus, Which the Saints Who Repent Will Receive?

World Mission Society Church of God(WMSCOG) believes in Christ Ahnsahnghong and God the Mother.
World Mission Society Church of God(WMSCOG) believes in Christ Ahnsahnghong and Heavenly Mother.

[False Claim]

The insistence of the Church of God, “Ahnsahnghong is the new name,” is false.

First, the new name in Revelation 2 is the name of Christ, which people receive again when they come back to Christ after repenting of their having followed the teachings of false prophets like Balaam and Nicolaitans. That is why the name of Christ becomes a new name for them. Therefore, the new name in Revelation 2 does not represent other names like Ahnsahnghong, but the very name Jesus. There is no other name than Jesus to receive salvation (Ac 4:12).

Secondly, even the book that Christ Ahnsahnghong wrote testifies that we will receive salvation through the name of Jesus in the last days.

“The Mystery of God and the Spring of the Water of Life,” Ch. 12 About the Trinity

Only Jesus can be the Savior’s name not only at His first coming but even in the last days.

[Countermeasure]
1. The “new” name means the “other” name that has never been used before

If the new name in Rev 2:17 is Christ’s name that false prophet followers receive after coming back to God with repentance, it means that the new name is Jesus. If then, it is the same name that they received before, so how can we say it is the “new name”? It would be correct to say that they receive the previous name “again.” However, the Bible does not say that they receive it “again,” but receive the “new” name. Therefore, what they insist is just nonsense.

Moreover, those who are against our church omit the words of Rev 3:12, and only focus on misinterpreting the meaning of Rev 2:17. However, if we read Rev 3:12, Jesus clearly said that He would give “my new name” to those who overcome. In this verse, the “new” name of Jesus refers to His new name. In other words, it is a “different” name that has never been used. So, the name “Jesus,” which had already been used when the book of Revelation was written, can never be the new name of Jesus that will be given in the future. Therefore, their interpretation is wrong.

2. The white stone, which the new name is written on, does not indicate Jesus who came the first time, but Jesus who comes a second time

The stone in Rev 2:17 does not refer to Jesus whom the saints had already accepted in that age. It is because the white stone in Rev 2:17 is not the stone that was already given, but will be given in the future. Therefore, the stone in Rev 2:17 does not refer to Jesus who already came 2,000 years ago but to Jesus who comes a second time in the future. It means the new name of Jesus is the name of the Second Coming Jesus.

Just as the Bible describes Jesus who came the first time in the flesh as the stone (Ac 4:11; 1 Pe 2:4), it also describes Jesus who comes a second time in the flesh as the stone. We can confirm this fact through the prophecy of Daniel 2; the rock [stone] cut out of a mountain, which represents God from heaven, is to come not in the age of Rome which is compared to iron, but in the age when Rome is divided into ten kingdoms. Therefore, when the book of Revelation was written, the stone that was prophesied to be given in the future must be Jesus who comes a second time, and the new name on the stone must be the name of the Second Coming Jesus.
Da 2:34 . . . a rock [stone] was cut out . . . struck the statue on its feet of iron and clay and smashed them.
Da 2:44 “In the time of those kings, the God of heaven will set up a kingdom . . .”

3. Comparing Rev 3:12 with Rev 19:7

We can confirm the fact that the new name of Jesus is the name of the Second Coming Jesus even by comparing Rev 3:12 with Rev 19:7.

In Rev 3:12 it is prophesied that on the people who overcome, the new name of Jesus will be written along with the name of the new Jerusalem coming down from heaven. In the book of Revelation, “the new Jerusalem coming down out of heaven” is the bride, the wife of the Lamb (Rev 21:9; 19:7). The bride will appear with the Lamb (Rev 22:17; 19:7). That is why the name of the bride and the name of the Lamb must be given together.

However, in Rev 19:7, the Lamb is not Jesus who came the first time but Jesus who comes a second time. It is because the bride did not appear at His first coming. Therefore, the name of the bride who comes down out of heaven, that is, the name of the new Jerusalem, and the name of the Second Coming Jesus will be given at the same time. If we connect this with Rev 3:12, we can clearly understand that Jesus’ new name in Rev 3:12 surely indicates the name of the Second Coming Jesus, and the new name that was written on the rock in Rev 2:17, too, is the name of the Second Coming Jesus.

4. Why did Christ Ahnsahnghong write that in His Truth Book?

Opposers are not concerned about the time when the book, “The Mystery of God and the Spring of the Water of Life (published in 1980)” was written, but only misuse its literal contents. When Christ Ahnsahnghong wrote the book, He did not teach that we should pray in His name or that we can receive salvation through His name just yet.

That is why He wrote that in His book. It is just like the time when Jesus, at His first coming, did not teach His disciple to pray in His name until He left this earth even though He was with them for three years (Jn 16:24; 14:12-14). In the same way, the text of the Truth Book is a very natural expression.

5. How are they going to explain the prophecy, “We have to call on the name of Jehovah in the last days to be saved”?

If they want to claim that the content of the Truth Book is false, they must first insist that all the churches of the world are in error. The prophet Joel prophesied, “Those who call on the name of ‘Jehovah’ will be saved in the last days (before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD).”

Joel 2:31-32 The sun will be turned to darkness and the moon to blood before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD. And everyone who calls on the name of the LORD will be saved.

If we follow this verse literally, God’s people should call on the name of Jehovah to be saved in the last days, not the name of Jesus. But why do all the churches in the world call on the name of Jesus not Jehovah? They must answer this.

In the time of the prophet Joel, neither the name of Jesus, nor the new name of Jesus, was given yet, so the prophet used the name of the Savior in that age, “Jehovah.” In the same way, Christ Ahnsahnghong wrote that in the book, “The Mystery of God and the Spring of the Water of Life.” Their interpretation about the Truth Book is absolutely wrong.

<Supplementary Explanation>

1. They interpreted that “he who overcomes” who will receive the white stone refers to the people who repent of having followed the teachings of Balaam and Nicolaitans. Yet, in the verse, the Spirit says to the “churches,” not to one specific church. It means that this verse is not only for the church in Pergamum. In actuality, all the messages to the seven churches, not only the message to the church in Pergamum, say about the blessing for “he who overcomes,” right?

Rev 2:17 “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes, I will give some of the hidden manna. I will also give him a white stone with a new name written on it, known only to him who receives it.”

We can understand this verse as the blessing for the true people of God, who do God’s will, beyond ages, but especially the book of Revelation prophesied that the saints who

are with the Lamb will overcome the power of the beast at His second coming. So, the promise for those who overcome, including Rev 2:17, is for the 144,000 saints who are to be with the Second Coming Jesus.

Rev 17:14 “They will make war against the Lamb, but the Lamb will overcome them because he is Lord of lords and King of kings―and with him will be his called, chosen and faithful followers.”
Rev 19:11-16 I saw heaven standing open and there before me was a white horse, whose rider is called Faithful and True. With justice he judges and makes war. His eyes are like blazing fire, and on his head are many crowns. He has a name written on him that no one knows but he himself. He is dressed in a robe dipped in blood, and his name is the Word of God. The armies of heaven were following him, riding on white horses and dressed in fine linen, white and clean. Out of his mouth comes a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations. “He will rule them with an iron scepter.” He treads the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God Almighty. On his robe and on his thigh he has this name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.
Rev 19:19-20 Then I saw the beast and the kings of the earth and their armies gathered together to make war against the rider on the horse and his army. But the beast was captured, and with him the false prophet who had performed the miraculous signs on his behalf . . .
